I started out wanting to "reimagine" Lakshmi a bit and this sort of transpired all on its own. As I was crafting her, I was curious as to whether the elephants in her images had names and through some research discovered that I had, in fact, been manifesting an image of a Goddess I had not known about before: Gajalakshmi.
In Hindu mythology, Gajalakshmi is regarded to have restored the wealth and power lost by Indra when she rose from the the churning of the ocean. She is the form of the goddess who stands for animal wealth, as well as other symbols of wealth that represent strength.
So often, Lakshmi is portrayed as this kind of "go with the flow and avoid confrotation" type goddess, so it was refreshing to get to know her warrior side a bit.
